5 Delicious Healthy Snacks You Can Eat Between Meals

Whether it be late at night as we lay in bed hungry or looking for a quick energy boost at 3pm, many of us are guilty of snacking in between meals. However, while ‘snacking’ is viewed negatively, it can be a great way to consume much-needed nutrients, so here are five healthy snacks you can eat in between meals. Our urge to snack usually comes from our quest to satisfy our sweet tooth, which you can do by eating dark chocolate-covered almonds, as they also offer antioxidant flavanols and minerals. Instead of reaching for your favorite chips, popcorn, which contains fiber, is a healthier alternative that you can eat in between meals. While some yogurts can be high in sugar, full-fat Greek yogurts will fill you up while also being a source of protein and bone-healthy calcium. If you’re on the go or just sitting at your desk, trail mix, which can be a combination of nuts and dried fruit, is a great source of fiber, carbohydrates and protein. Lastly, banana and almond butter is a popular snack with the tasty combination containing important micronutrients such as potassium, as well as B vitamins and magnesium.
